Joy Zipper

Artist: Joy Zipper

Album: American Whip

I learned about it from: Magnet magazine

Comments: If you find yourself liking a few things about Eisley, but are somehow turned off by their major-label polish, then Joy Zipper should satisfy you. They're decidedly poppy, in that alternative sort of way. They embrace the breathy vocals so important to Ultra Vivid Scene, My Bloody Valentine and a host of other Brit-Pop bands from 15 years ago. You can partially blame producer Keven Shields for that. Meanwhile, you might be surprised to learn that this duo (Vinny and Tabitha) comes from New York, although they do spend a lot of time in London, where they're much more popular.
